As a synth enthusiast I definitely realize the importance of actually knowing how to play. Many people decide to get their first synth because they like the way it sounds or because it is fun or because it looks cool. That is all well and good, but without proper training in the basic fundamentals you can only go so far with your music. That is why I highly recommend you take piano lessons. No matter how good you think you are, without a proper foundation you are basically just a hack. I sure know I was. I played the synth for several years without any real lessons, and I got by just fine, but after I really learned what I was doing my playing has improved 100 fold.

My playing has become so much better since I learned to play piano the right way, and I know yours will too.
